2009: Oil paint slick threatens coastal seabirds

Cornish wildlife is under threat as a massive slick of blue oil paint is expected to wash ashore overnight. The paint was accidentally released when a Russian tanker chartered by seaside art galleries ran aground in heavy storms. A coastguard spokesman at the scene described the paint as "dangerously blue" evoking a "calm sadness with a spectral range of 440-490nm."

Seaside artists have already responded to the impending environmental disaster by ordering lots more blue paint to capture the scenes of devastation as they unfold.
